You can record your vehicle's purchase date, odometer, and price, as well as the estimated current or future value of your vehicle. This allows Road Trip to include the vehicle depreciation costs in your expense statistics. To enter your purchase information, select Vehicle Info > Purchase and Depreciation.
Tap Set Purchase Price to enter your vehicle's purchase information. You can enter the purchase date, odometer, and price. The vehicle price itself is not included in the expenses, but it will be used for calculating depreciation based on the current value of your vehicle.
The purchase date and odometer values do not affect your fuel consumption statistics, but they will be included in your vehicle distance statistics, including Total Distance and Distance per Day.
Additionally, any expenses recorded prior to the vehicle purchase date and odometer will be excluded from your statistics. This is useful if you have purchased a used car and have recorded the maintenance history from the previous owner.
Tap Add Current Value to set the current value of your vehicle. You can enter the estimated current value of your vehicle, an estimated future value, or the actual sale date and price. You can enter multiple values at different dates in the past or in the future.
Once the purchase price and the current value have been set, Road Trip will calculate the depreciation between the purchase date and the date of the current vehicle value. To cost is applied evenly between those dates.
To view the depreciation costs on the Statistics page, tap the "Expenses" section and look for the "Depreciation" expense.
