This tutorial describes how to import your existing CSV data into Road Trip. It is split into three parts:

1. Creating a .CSV File
2. Importing CSV Data
3. Sending the data to your iPhone

Convert your Excel data to CSV format.

Note: You can skip this step if you already have a .CSV file.

• With Excel or Open Office:
  1. Select File > Save As... from the menu.
  2. Choose CSV as the file type.
  3. Choose a name for your CSV file, say MyCar.csv, and save it to your desktop.
     
• With iWork Numbers:
  1. Select File > Export... from the menu.
  2. Select CSV and click the Next button.
  3. Choose a name for your CSV file, say MyCar.csv, and save it to your desktop.
     

Use the on-line CSV Import Tool to import your CSV Data.

• Microsoft Windows:
  • Open the Notepad application, which is in your Start Menu.
  • Select File > Open from the menu and open your .csv file.
  • Select all text (Control+A) and copy (Control+C).
    
• Mac OS X:
  • Open the TextEdit application, which is in your Applications folder.
  • Select File > Open from the menu and open your .csv file.
  • Select all text (Command+A) and copy (Command+C).
    

1. Open the on-line CSV Import Tool.
2. Paste (Command+V) your CSV into the Step 1 edit box, and click the "Next" button.
   
3. Use the drop-down boxes to identify the columns of data.
   

   Note: The import tool will try to guess the contents of each column based on the labels in the first row of data.

   Note: Only the "Odometer", "Date", and "Fill Amount" columns are required; all others are optional. Columns that are not identified will be ignored.

4. Once you have identified each column, click the "Import Data" button.

   If the data was imported correctly, "Step 3." will appear, and will contain a link that contains your CSV data.

   

Copy the link generated by the import tool, email the link to your iPhone, then click the link from your iPhone.

1. Select the paragraph and link generated by the import tool, and copy (Command+C).
   
2. Compose a new email, paste the link, and send it to your iPhone or iPod Touch.
   
3. Open the email on your iPhone or iPod and click the link.
